At Olive This Olive That, we believe that exceptional products begin with exceptional people. Our shop proudly showcases the creations of passionate local farmers and artisans who pour their hearts into crafting sustainable, small-batch delicacies. Let's meet some of the remarkable people behind the products on our shelves.
Olivewood Ranch
When Pamm Anderson and Pete Vernasco discovered an existing grove of 10-year-old Italian olive varietals in Suisun Valley, it felt like destiny. What began as an experiment after 15 years in the grape-growing business has blossomed into a true family passion project.
Their unique Kumquat Mandarin Fusion Oil available in our shop represents California innovation at its finest—bright, citrusy, and unlike anything you'll find in traditional European oils. We love how this small family operation brings their seven children into every aspect of production, ensuring traditional methods continue into the next generation.
Jacobsen Salt Co.
As America's first modern saltworks, Jacobsen has revolutionized how we think about this essential mineral. Their salts are harvested from the pristine waters of the Oregon Coast, creating crystals with a unique mineral profile and stunning flake structure.
Our selection includes their pure sea salt alongside creative infusions like Black Garlic Salt, Black Pepper Salt, Habanero Salt, and Lemon Zest Salt. These make perfect partners to our olive oils, each one carefully crafted to enhance different culinary creations.
Noe Valley Apiaries
When we say "local honey," we mean it! Philip Gerrie's bees forage throughout San Francisco's neighborhoods, gathering nectar from backyard gardens, street trees, and public parks. The resulting honey captures a genuine taste of our city—a flavor that changes with the seasons as different plants come into bloom.
What we love most about working with Philip is his dedication to bee rescue. Rather than importing commercial hives, his operation consists of rescued feral colonies, giving unwanted bees a second chance while producing exceptional honey. It's urban agriculture at its finest and most sustainable.
Peace & Plenty Farm
Few American farms specialize in saffron, making Simon and Melinda's Lake County operation truly special. Their commitment to regenerative agriculture means their saffron is grown with practices that actually improve soil health rather than depleting it.
Their saffron-infused honey creates a remarkable flavor experience—delicate floral notes balanced with natural sweetness. We also have a couple of their beautiful teas in the store. The farm's historic buildings, dating back to the 1800s, remind us of California's rich agricultural heritage.
INNA
What makes INNA's products stand out in our shop is Dafna's unwavering commitment to single-varietal preserves. Unlike most jam producers who blend fruits or add herbs and spices, INNA lets each fruit shine on its own merits. This purity of flavor creates preserves that taste remarkably like biting into perfectly ripe fruit.
INNA's commitment to sourcing within 200 miles of their Emeryville kitchen aligns perfectly with our local-first philosophy at Olive This Olive That. We offer a selection of INNA jams and shrubs at the shop.
ENZO
When you taste an ENZO product, you're experiencing over a century of agricultural wisdom. The Ricchiuti Family's journey from Italian immigrants to award-winning California producers embodies the American dream and the evolution of our state's food landscape.
Their estate approach—controlling every step from growing to milling to bottling—creates exceptional consistency and quality. We're particularly excited to offer their Fresno chili-infused oil, which delivers perfect heat without overwhelming the olive's natural character. Additionally, their almond butters showcase how California's crops can complement each other beautifully.
Olivaia
A true power couple, founders Giulio Zavolta and Dr. Rachelle Bross have created an operation that honors California's olive heritage, while promoting wellness through exceptional EVOO. Their complementary skills—Giulio serving on industry boards and Rachelle conducting nutritional research—make their oils not just delicious but part of a larger mission to demonstrate that "eating well and eating healthy is the same thing."
When we learned that Olivaia had rescued century-old olive trees that would have otherwise been removed for more profitable crops, we knew we had to feature their oils. Their "Block X" of heritage trees produces oil with remarkable complexity that simply can't be replicated in younger groves.
By preserving these trees in Lindsay—once known as the "olive capital of the world"—they're not just making excellent oil; they're protecting living California history. Their "Original Lindsay Artisanal" (OLA) oil captures this legacy in every bottle, connecting our customers to the earliest days of California olive cultivation.
Sutter Buttes
Alka Kumar and Arek Kazmierczak bring global inspiration back to California's agricultural heartland. Their tapenades and jams exemplify how international flavors can highlight local ingredients. Growing their olives within 30 miles of the volcanic Sutter Buttes formation gives their products a sense of terroir that's unmistakable.
Their award-winning Arbequina oil consistently achieves remarkable purity with acidity levels below 0.3%—well beyond the standard for extra virgin quality. We appreciate their commitment to processing olives within one hour of harvest, a practice that preserves freshness and nutritional value.
Bayview Pasta
Chef Joshua Felciano's approach to pasta-making takes nothing for granted—not even the flour. By hand-milling non-GMO wheat berries from West Coast farms, he creates pasta with nutritional value and digestibility that industrial products simply can't match.
His gremolata olives have become a customer favorite at Olive This Olive That, perfectly complementing our regional olive oils. We love supporting this growing San Francisco business that's preserving traditional techniques while creating products specifically designed for Bay Area tastes.
Eatwell Farm
What began as an organic vegetable CSA expanded into aromatic botanicals under the guidance of late founder Nigel and his wife. Their salts and seasonings capture the essence of Northern California's unique growing conditions.
We particularly value their understanding of both culinary applications and natural wellness—bringing together delicious flavors with products that support health. Their salt blends enhance the flavors of our olive oils while adding nuance to everyday cooking.
Rize Up Bakery
Azikiwee Anderson's story embodies resilience and positive transformation. Born during the social upheaval of 2020, Rize Up turned personal grief into community nourishment through the ancient art of sourdough baking.
As a Black-owned bakery reinventing traditional sourdough, they're creating both exceptional bread and meaningful representation in the artisanal food world. We're proud to receive their fresh-baked loaves four times weekly, creating the foundation for countless olive oil tastings and culinary explorations.
